Santa Caterina Valfurva (1,738 m a.s.l) is a winter and summer holiday destination in the province of Sondrio (Alta Valtellina). It is in the heart of the Stelvio National Park and characterized by a wild nature. It is situated where the Forni and Gavia valleys meet, right in the centre of the Ortles-Cevedale mountain chain, one of the most important alpine areas from a naturalistic, historic and mountaineering point of view.
Starting from December to May, Santa Caterina offers 45 kilometres of ski-slopes and 15 kilometres of cross-country tracks. They are all and always well covered with snow thanks to the location of the town and the modern snow cannons. That’s why Santa Caterina is the perfect place for your winter holidays!
Santa Caterina is well known because it hosted the Women’s competitions of the Alpine Ski World Championships in 1985 and 2005 and also several alpine skiing and cross-country skiing World Cup races.
